Statement

As part of an ongoing investigation, this collection of photographs examines aging through a specific and unique community. I was interested in the way we conceptualize growing old. Inevitable and constant, we share the experience as we are defined by it.

Breakfast and Lunch looks at the people who get two meals a day a senior center in Greenwich Village. In their homes and at the center, I listened to their stories, shared my time and gave them all of my attention. While I encountered desperate loneliness, regret, and sometimes true contentment, most potent was the recurring sense of resilience.
